What You Need To Know Before Visiting the Langkawi Cable Car
Categories » Travel » Malaysia

The Langkawi Cable Car can be found on Langkawi Island in Malaysia.  This is one of the most famous attractions in Kedah and when anyone uses the cable car, they will be able to get an aerial view of the beautiful scenery of Gunung Machinchang.  The Langkawi Cable Car does offer a fantastic link from Burau Bay Resort at Teluk Burau to the beautiful peak of Gunung Machinchang.

The Langkawi Cable Car measures actually a massive length of 1.4 miles or 2.2 kilometres which is an extraordinary length for a cable car.  This cable car attraction has actually only been around for a short time, since 2003; now that might be ten years but it gives all new feel to the tourists.  Situated north of the Telaga Harbour, the Pantai Kok, this brings in many every single day.

Visitors can even visit the Base Station which is found at the Oriental Village, at the very beginning of the cable car; and visitors can see the amazing views of the forests and even, in the distance, the beautiful mountaintops and spectacular views of the Seven Wells, (Telaga Tujuh) waterfall!  Visitors can even have a spectacular view of the sea.

Visitors can stop off at the Middle Station and go walking to the eastern cliffs which have its vertical chimneys.  These vertical chimneys have stunning 360-degree views!    However, to get to the Middle Station, cable car travels almost seventeen hundred metres!  If visitors want to go all the way to the top, they will find the Top Station.  This is accessible via stairs; which, when visitors do take these stairs, will lead to the view from the highest peak.

At the Top Station however, there is a lovely little cafe for visitors to stop in at.  Here, is where the coolest points of the ride are because it’s a good five or six degree Celsius cooler than at lower parts of the cable car journey.  This is amazing and there are so many amazing views and scenery to gaze at no matter the time of the year.

There is even the Sky Bridge, which is a huge suspended bridge on the Machinchang Mountain which is great but really frightening for those who don’t like heights!  It’s actually great because visitors can access this via the Top Station but it does allow visitors to see the amazing landscape below and even allow those who wish to take in a jungle trek and adventure.

The Langkawi Cable Car does open from 10AM through to 7PM from Monday to Thursday; Wednesday has a later time of 12PM to 7PM.  Though, the cable cars do need regular maintenance so they’re  closed from time to time when inspections are being conducted and safety checks are being carried out.

The best time to visit would have to be a weekday; any day would be good as the weekend is very busy.  Try to get there at the earliest time, about 10AM to 4PM as it’s the least busy then.  No matter what time you visit however it will be a fantastic experience and something to remember forever.  December is always a busy month but it’s a good month to visit, however, it’s an amazing location all year around.
